SINGER - SONGWRITER

ABOUT CHRISTINE

"Music is a spirit that dwells inside one's soul."  - C. Kempski

Christine Gail Kempski, a Filipino/German singer and songwriter was manufactured in the Philippines and assembled in the U.S.A. As a  proud and fluent speaker of her native Filipino tongue, Visaya, she has been living in Los Angeles since the age of six where she learned to speak English and inherited a natural singing and musical ability through her mother.

She started playing violin at an early age, but developed a love for the piano playing classical pieces. Growing up, Christine would often listen to her mom play standard songs on the piano and accompany herself singing, which led her to play her own repertoire of standards. Soon after, she started writing her own music and lyrics and would entertain her friends.

While bringing intensity and life to the songs she writes, sings, and performs, Christine is seen as a very passionate and compassionate individual. Her writing style is diverse and influenced by genres from new age, jazz, pop, R&B, rock, and the standards, to classical and contemporary Christian music.

"At an early age I set out to become a performer and professional Singer and Songwriter. I remember a bright day outside of our house in the Philippines: I sang lines from the Coca Cola song - 'I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.'  Those words rang true for me even at 4 years old; it was from this childhood experience that I'd decided to become a singer.

So many years have gone by since then. In adolescence, I'd have solo singing roles in school plays and be the jazz band vocalist, and also start writing songs. Reaching adulthood, I'd written more songs, recorded with an original band, performed as a lead singer with great cover bands, opened for several popular ethnic performers, and worked for a demo recording company doing lead vocals and starred in music videos.  As a mother of two beautiful daughters, I'd performed in spiritual/charismatic concerts in Los Angeles and the Philippines, and even arranged music and conducted for a choral competition.

Due to unmentionable circumstances in my life, I put my music on hold for many years, but I hoped and prayed everyday that one day the world would hear my songs and watch me perform them.

Fast forward to a few years ago, as I was contemplating my life and my age, I debated whether to put my music away in a box forever or to continue pursuing it and write new material. I often asked myself "Am I too old for this?"  But with the advice of a few close friends, I realized that music has nothing to do with age; it's like a spirit that lives and dwells inside of you.  From this epiphany, I decided "I'm putting an original music album together before I perish from this world!"

So here I am! Thanks to collaborating with a great arranger and fantastic musicians, I've been able to revive some old recorded songs of mine and bring light to some of the newer material that I've written. This album is called FOLLOW ME; and if you like diversity, you will definitely enjoy it! You could say it's eclectic because unlike many modern-day albums, I don't really have a set genre. I can say, however, that all my songs are soothing for the soul.

My songs are a portrait of my life and have meaningful and personal messages that I want to share with the planet and beyond!"
